This past weekend was the celebratory congregation of the BLOOP SET. That man Japes aka Bloope Fiasco turned 21 and we got this nigga fuckkeeedd up. In the day we ate the world famous salad master food. Then headed over to Burlingame for that PRO fessional go karting. Then drove even farther down the bay to D&B’s. Tiring, but fun day. BTW, this is my last week of school so dont worry my blog isnt gonna be so fucking boring.

Wow…has it been a while or has it been a while? My finals are calming down with only two more weeks of school left! You all know that man Jay Ant. Wellp, hes working on releasing another mixtape to follow up his last mixtape All About Being Cool. He played some of his new shit for me and boy, oh, boy I think the myspace boppers and other young bay-destrian turning punk rock kids are gonna jizz in their pants over. But for us mature, esteemed hip-hop enthusiats his songs will do nothing short of amaze. Jay’s gone deeper with keeping a different sound while still making it an instant slapper for the trunk. We’re in talks of doing a video for one..or three new songs hes comin out with. im pretty juiced.

Today was yet another beautiful ass day in the bay. I woke up late for class and didnt go =/. It was super nice out, so I tried to get my tan on in my backyard. Just sat in a chair shirtless chilling with my dog. Then, I met up with Fons and Ana and crashed their picnic at the marina. Ana saved me a sandwich tho! After sitting and enjoying the view of SF and the cerrito we headed to the aquarium aka Ranch 99 and got ball drinks. Zang.

Almost lost you guys for a second. Sorry for my absence.
Anywho, check out this video treat I did for a friends friends hair show x graduation celebration. It took place at the highly famed diPietro Todd Salon in San Francisco. Berry nice place. Berry professional steez.
For this video, I experimented with composite modes and layering colors to get a different overall “color palette.” Personally, I’m a fan of deep contrast, so whenever I can, I try to push the blacks as far as visual appeal can handle. Contrast is kind of a tricky concept when it comes to color cinematography. It can only be done if you have a very good lighting set up. At the show, there was somewhat of a lighting set up comprised of two flooded spots to light the runway, with two color filtered lamps (for that ‘mood’) and one spot light facing down the runway towards audience. Not an ideal light plan for what I wanted to achieve, but gave me somthing to work with.
What got me excited was the spot light facing the audience. It gave a gorgeous backlight to the models as they walked down. Since it was a hair show, most of my shots focused on the heads/hair of the models. That backlight helped with: 1. illuminating the intended subject (models hair) 2. Giving depth to the subject. This can be best seen in the models with lighter color hair anndd the first model that walks in the purple dress (who i think is kinda hot.)
FCP set up: video tracks layered on top of eachother. bottom layer given 15-25% cyan/blue tint. top layer set to “overlay” composite mode.
